Why Are There So Many Homeless Pets?

An all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping homeless animals get a second chance at a great life

News!

Join our team in the Annual Celebrate Animals Walk on September 27th in Sandy Springs.  It's a fun time for both humans and dogs... there will be prizes, doggy dance lessons, Canine Olympics, lookalike contests, costume contests, DJ Sully from 92.9 DaveFM and a lot of food, music, entertainment and freebies from many vendor booths!  The money raised will go to our LifeSaver Fund with the Atlanta Animal Alliance to provide medical care for homeless pets and it will also go to support the new WellPet charitable veterinary clinic.  Please visit our Team Page to sign up or donate!

Download a $4 coupon from Purina's Give-A-Bowl program and Purina will donate $1 to the WGAWL for each coupon redeemed. Be sure to enter zipcode 30187 at www.giveabowl.com and select us as your charity. Save a life today just by using a coupon!

The warm weather has arrived, so please remember to not leave your pet in your car for even a few minutes! Temperatures inside of a parked car can quickly rise to 120 to 150 degrees. For more information and to help spread the word, please visit MyDogIsCool.com If you see a dog in distress locked in a car in a parking lot, immediately call 911 or Animal Control and inform the store management.  You might save a dog's life!

Help the WGAWL pets just by buying your pet's usual medications and vitamins from 1-800-PetMeds. Ten percent of every order placed through this link will go to help our pets. You can also use code WGAWL at checkout or call in your order at 1-800-PetMeds (1-800-738-6337) and use the code WGAWL. It's a great way to help our shelter pets just by shopping for your own pet!

Little Clarence getting oxygen therapy at the vet.

December was quite a month for our sweet little Clarence. Soon after his arrival we noticed he was having trouble breathing so we took him to the vet. X-rays showed that one of his lungs was in distress and surgery revealed that little Clarence had an abscess on his lung. The specialist surgeon removed the abscessed part of his lung and Clarence is now recuperating quite nicely. Clarence's surgery bills cost the WGAWL over $5,000 (which is a big chunk from our budget!) so if you can help with a donation you will be helping Clarence and the new pets who arrive in 2008 who need medical attention. You can send a donation via PayPal to donations@wgawl.org or click on the PayPal link on our Donations page. Your generosity and compassion help us to help homeless pets!
